GONDOLAS
Originally from Venice, the gondola was created and still acts as a row boat to navigate the "city on water". It's shape and size is such that only one person with one oar is needed to row across the canal (Romantica, 2012).

VAPORETTOS
WHAT IS A VAPORETTO?
Since gondolas can only hold a small amount of people, today Vaporetto's, or "water buses" are used to transport people along the canal. Just as we have buses as a form of public transportation through cities, the Vaporetto is used the same way but on water as Venice is a "city on water". Tour of Grand Canal from view of a Vaporetto
